Older Adults



We see a great deal of older adults in our therapy practice.


Leisure activities are associated with increased well-being among older adults. Some older adult patients say that they enjoy Tai Chi. Tai Chi is a balance-based exercise combining Chinese martial arts and meditation moves. Tai chi helps to strengthen, stretch, relax, and improve balance which is extremely important for older adults who might have issues with balance and stability.


Social media has helped older adults stay emotionally fit during and after the pandemic by creating connections with friends and family. Recent data revealed that 40 percent of people aged 65 and older used social media. In fact, among those 65 and older, YouTube use increased from 38% to 49% (gains of 13 and 11 points, respectively) between 2019- 2021. For older adults that need assistance getting started with social media platforms like Facebook, there are online resources, such as this one, to help.
